Chipotle offer to rehire manager accused of racial-profiling after new information comes to light of accuser’s suspected history of dining and dashing

On Friday, Masud Ali, 21, uploaded a video to Twitter depicting Ali and his group of friends, allegedly being denied service at a Chipotle restaurant in St. Paul Minnesota by the manager, because they were black.

In the video, the manager can be heard saying, “You have to pay because you never have money when you come in here.”

One of the men in Ali’s group can be heard responding, “Y’all basically stereotyping us.”

The video, captioned “Can a group of young well established African American get a bite to eat after a long workout session,” quickly went viral, currently with over 11 million views.

The manager was consequently fired over the weekend for accusations against her of racial-profiling.

However, a quick search of Ali’s own Twitter account shows that he has a history of suspected dining and dashing offences, with several of his tweets bragging about it, as shown by the following tweets:

“Dine and dash is forever interesting.”

“Not a dine and dash we’re just borrowing food for a couple hours.”

According to the Chipotle manager, Ali and his friends were denied services because they were suspected of dining and dashing.

Since the manager’s termination of employment, Ali’s tweets of him boasting about dining and dashing came to light, and placed Chipotle under fire.

As a result, Chipotle spokeswoman Laurie Schalow released a statement on Sunday saying, “Our actions were based on the facts known to us immediately after the incident, including video footage, social media posts and conversations with the customer, manager, and our employees. We now have additional information which needs to be investigated further. We want to do the right thing, so after further investigation we will re-train and re-hire if the facts warrant it.”

After reviewing all the evidence, on Monday Chipotle publicly apologised to the manager and officially offered the manager her job back.
